My new baby

Caught in the act
Isn't she pretty?- The Nikon D5000
My first portrait style photo- The handsome Mr. K.
My first focus photo- Daniele's ornament
My first food photo- Vince's favourite Metz treat

I am the luckiest girl in the world! My whole family on both sides pitched in to get me a digital SLR Nikon D5000 camera for Christmas! Can you believe it? I carry it around like a precious newborn, scared I'm going to drop it on it's head at any moment!
I hope it will elevate my blogging and also become a serious hobby. Vince and I are excited to take photographs on our honeymoon and of our future family! It's funny how something as small as a camera is already creating future memories in our heads!

Thanks so much to our families! We are so excited and happy!

Plans for the first 11mins of New years?

Why not try something new?! On New Years! This New Years day is 01.01.11. and Dr. Anuradha Choudry is spearheading a project called Ekataa.

It's 11 minutes of human oneness at the stroke of midnight this New Year Eve. She implores us to have complete love in our hearts with no judgement, no negativity, no anything! Just love! Can you do it? For 11 whole minutes? You can do this while at at a party, where ever you are. No need to be sober or alone or quiet. Just make sure for the first 11mins of new years you have no thoughts of hatred or jealousy or negativity in your heart.

The effect of complete human oneness will be felt around the planet and deep in your heart. Sounds wonderful doesn't it?

As she says "This is a an invitation to every individual on earth to light up the world in celebration of the unity we share as human beings and ‘sound’ as one on 1.1.11 at 00:00 hours."
Give it a try! To find out more please check out the website here.

Christmas Eve and France-ward bound!

nutcracker 'Twas the Night Before Christmas nutcracker
by Clement Clarke Moore

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

horse

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.
And Mama in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.

wreath

When out on the roof there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
tore open the shutter, and threw up the sash.

bells

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
gave the lustre of midday to objects below,
when, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.

wreath

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles, his coursers they came,
and he whistled and shouted and called them by name:

"Now Dasher! Now Dancer!
Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid!
On, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!"

horse

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
so up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
with the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

bells

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
the prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

roof

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

wreath

His eyes--how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
and the beard on his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
that shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.

bells

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
and I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

horse

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

sleigh

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

bells

On the fence? Today is your day!

Life goes on within you and without you!
~ The Beatles

Well I am currently off the fence and trying to be in the life that is here! I am present dammit and it's scary and exhillarating!

I wanted to let you know that today is a full moon and the start of the Winter Soltice. That means today all your prayers and mediatation, reflection and gratitude will be that much more powerful. Here is some info a Doctor friend sent us about this day:

"Total lunar eclipses are not rare, occurring every year or two, being visible at any particular location only every three years or so. This upcoming total lunar eclipse, however, is special in that it occurs near the time of the winter solstice. This makes it located at the highest point of the sky in the zodiac for the northern hemisphere. Such an exact winter solstice eclipse occurs only every few centuries. It is an extremely important time for karmic rectification of one’s life. Eclipses are powerful times to spiritualize one’s life in a deeper way, manifesting changes for our higher well-being."

So give it a go! Close your eyes for a second and with strong intent send love to your soul and whatever you want to see done in your life. I know I will.

Elizabeth my yoga teacher

One legged Pigeon pose or Eka Pada Rajakapotasana. This pose stimulates all your major organs and scared the crap out of me the first time I did it! I thought there was no way my leg would do that and I would surely break it! But no! Just a wonderful intense stretch!
The Plow pose or Halasana (It's meant to be held for up to 5 mins!) and will help you with:
  • Calms the brain
  • Stimulates the abdominal organs and the thyroid gland
  • Helps relieve the symptoms of menopause
  • Reduces stress and fatigue
  • Therapeutic for backache, headache, infertility, insomnia, sinusitis
Warrior III pose or Virabhadrasana III improves your balance and posture (I used the wall behind me to balance myself.) I was sweating after holding this one for so long!
Eagle pose or Garudasana is really hard! I tried it out for the first time today and just managed to do the upper body part. It helps relieve:
  • Asthma
  • Low backache
  • Sciatica
Extended Triangle pose or Utthita Trikonasana feels soooo good on your torso! And it helps with:
  • Relieving stress
  • Improves digestion
  • Helps relieve the symptoms of menopause
  • Relieves backache, especially through second trimester of pregnancy
  • Therapeutic for anxiety, flat feet, infertility, neck pain, osteoporosis, and sciatica

Tree pose or Vrksasana is so hard! It's part of our balancing series and requires intense concentration. It is also used to relieve sciatica.

I've started learning Yoga from Elizabeth at Yoga Intentions in Paceville right down the street. I don't know why I thought this was easy!? It's not. Yoga takes a lot of strength, concentration and will. I am loving the health benefits of cleansing my cells (detoxifying the carcinogens) and honing my brain (shutting up my aniexty ridden mind). It just feels natural to do this and fun. I like the challenge!
Have you guys been trying out any new endevors lately? I would love to hear!

Brother Sister love

I wonder if my brother ever wished I was a dog instead of my bossy kid self when we were little. I bet he did!
I just couldn't help posting this picture of Hamburger, A.K.A. Burger (the dog) and Clara (the baby). Burger has his own blog where he "writes" about being a big brother, sleeping, dancing around things and acting like a deer. You can find him here.

Thanks God for little babies and littler doggies! Make me smile everytime!
