Over

Hi Everybody, I guess everyone knows by now that Vince and I were pregnant. It was a big surprise to us and however unplanned it was it was equally as joyful. We were getting really used to the term Mommy and Daddy and Baby when we found out at an ultrasound last week that the fetus had stopped living. Yesterday at 12 weeks and 1 day I had a D&C operation to remove the dead fetus from my uterus.
So it's over. No more baby, no more Mommy or Daddy. I feel really angry and sad and disappointed and angry and lost. I'm mad cause I wanted to announce our pregnancy here with such happiness. I'm mad my parents won't be grandparents anymore and my brother and Britt won't be aunts and uncles anymore. But most of all I'm sad that the baby I bonded with and was inside me for 2 months is now gone. He was mine and I didn't want him or her to leave. I feel empty and sad and crappy.

But everythings going to be okay cause I have you guys. Thank you so much for all your emails. It's overwhelming and makes me feel so loved. Vince and I can't do this alone and I need all the support I can get right now. So thanks guys! I love you soooooooo much! Hopefully this blog will get back on track soon. Just need time to get used to it being over.

Sunday St. Julian's

Good Morning Everybody! We often go for a walk around the boardwlk in our little town but never on the other side of the water. This weekend we decided to see what was over there. And of course it was just some more great views. We also got up close and personal with the big catus trees that grow everywhere in Malta. Apparently if you snip off a "leaf" of it and put it on top of some soil it will just develop a trunk and start growing! Isn't that crazy? We also found a little cat shelter that freaked out Vince so we quickly walked past on to a rocky cliff and found a great swimming hole. I am going to try and remember it for when you come and visit....I just have to wrangle up a few low beach chairs and we are all set.

A Fiance Valentine's Day

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend being romantic and lovey dovey. On Sunday Vince made me a feast! While I was napping in the afternoon he made seared scallops for the starter and then a fillet of beef wrapped in bacon with a red wine reduction sauce and lemony dijon parsley potatoes. Then came a simple arugula salad with parmesan to go with the frenchie cheese plate. Yay for french cheese! After all that he even made mini molten chocolate cakes with strawberries for desert! He set the table and dressed up in his new shirt and jeans and looked so handsome! I am one lucky Fiance let me tell you that!
Valentines Day doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate just a nice little homemade dinner and card will do any day I think, as long as it's from the one you love.

Sunday Sliema

Good morning guys! On Sunday we went for a walk on the Sliema waterfront. Sliema is the town right beside ours, you can walk there in about 25 mins or take the bus. They have this awesome waterfront area that follows below the boardwalk. I can't wait to see it in the summer because I think it's actually a beach! There are small steps and railings cut into the stone to make it easier to get into the surf. I just don't understand how they layout on the rocks without breaking their backs? Well hopefully it will be warm enough for a swim in a few months!

Valletta the beautiful

I love all the colourful covered balconies in Valletta!

There are big beautiful old trees lining some of the streets

And of course a red British telephone box just incase you forgot this once was a British colony

Good Morning everybody! I wanted to share a few pictures from last weekend. We went into Valletta to visit the Saturday market and ended up wandering the streets and stopping for coffee and cake instead. It was a beautiful sunny day and perfect for pictures. Valletta is the capital of Malta and is about 10 mins driving from our house. It's foundation stone was laid in 1566 and was the first planned capital in Europe. Today it's a World Unesco Heritage site with all of 7000 inhabitants and 600 by 1000 meters big. I can't wait to explore it even more with you when you get here!

What about a Bastille Day wedding?

Since we are probably getting married in France I was thinking about July 14th (Aunt Ann's birthday) and also Bastille Day which is France's national Holiday! I sure am inspired from the images above that Snipet and Ink was so good to put together. I don't know, looks like fun doesn't it?

Okay so how many weddings can one girl have?

Oh my god I am completely obsessed with Snipet and Ink's inspiration boards. They make me want to have a million different weddings! Just like this one! Orange and Grey! LOVE IT! So beautiful if our ceremony was at the AGO eh? Oh my god what a dream! I want a vintage peach/pink/ivory/black backyard wedding and a chic downtown grey/orange city wedding! I want it all!

Honeymoon hideaway

Good Morning everybody can you believe I am already searching honeymoon sites? Vince and I are looking forward to relaxing and just being. We both love the beach and really want the idylic thurquoise water, cocktails, and feeling so far away. We are thinking about Bora Bora in French Polynesia. The above image is an overwater bungalow from the St. Regis Hotel Bora Bora. What I am wondering is, is it worth it to pay extra for the overwater bungalow or it is just the same to stay in a beach bungalow? What would you do?

Proud Momma! (Happy Belated birthday Blake)

Okay I couldn't resit posting this picture of My Aunt Lyn and her son Blake. He turned 25 on Sunday and Vince and I are both so bummed we couldn't celebrate with them. Apparently there was pulled pork sandwiches and death by chocolate all made to order from the Aunt Lyn/Food network cookbook. I also heard that Blake got a portable clothes washing machine as a gift? Is this true? Oh and Blake did you end up going out with one of the Marlies girls or wha?
Oh man I wish I was there!

Pretty Palette by Snipet and Ink

Goodmorning everybody! How was you weekend? What did you do for fun? Vince and I laid low. We went out on Saturdy to get a few more things to make our house a home. Finding regular things like picture fames is a feat in itself here in Malta so it's taking longer than normal to get the apartment set up just the way we like it. But I think after one more hunting trip this weekend it should finally be perfect and ready for your visit! Yahoo! I can't wait till you all get here!

I love searching the web for wedding ideas and inspiration. All the wedding magazines here are british and I find their style a little tacky for me do you know what I mean? Even a little trashy I dare say. Anywho so all the wedding research I do is online and I found this great website called Snipet and Ink. The author puts together these inspiration boards on different colors and posts them once a week. I totally fell in love with the one above that was titled:
"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!"
Love it!
