Yo!Yo!Yo! I did it!

Goodmorning everybody! I got my results from my TEFL course yesterday! I passed with a B average! Coolio! It's the first school thing that I have ever completed! I can't believe I did it. I am so proud of myself for completing something really hard and not giving up. Now I can be an english as a second language teacher! Whooooohooooooo...I just have to convince Malta and the EU to give me a work visa! :) We'll see how that goes but for now I am on cloud nine!

Happy Birthday Daddy-o!

Today is Dad's Birthday! He is the young age of 53! I love this picture because it shows off his gorgeous dimples! Aren't they cute?!
I love you so much Daddy and I hope you have the greatest birthday ever! Vince and I are so sad we are not there to celebrate with you but we will hopefully make up for in Rome in June!
Love you lots, hugs and kisses, Sam and Vince.

Country Charm? Hell no! I call this look SamandVincetastic!

Okay so I think I have found my orange and grey fix but in a less trendy way. I know my wedding won't be timeless but I sure don't want to look back and just flat out laugh you know what I mean? So I think I have found my palette. I was so all about orange and grey but I think I am going to adapt it to soft peacy hues and maybe cantelope orange and soft pink and dove grey instead of the intense shocking bold orange and dark gunmetal grey. What do you think?

This above image has everything I want, an old wodden table, soft pretty flowers and the 'found objects' kinda look. Are you as in love with it as I am? I found it over at Snipet and Ink. I just love love their wedding website. I can't keep my eyes off of it!

That's right people, I am back in the game!

I just love the colours and textures of the sweet peas in this bouquet! It's so dreamy and ethereal!
What do you think if I wear a feathery-vintagey-diamondy thing like this in my hair under my veil for the ceremony and then take it off for dinner? I kinda LOVE it!

So I am back in planning mode as you can see. It's only taken me 2 long months. And I will still need to keep working on getting used to our baby not being at the wedding with us and feeling that loss. But for right now it's all hearts and butterflies and cotton candy! I am excited and trying desperately to plan everything under budget. It's scary but exciting! Who's with me?!

P.S. thanks so much to Oncewed.com for the above amazing images and daily inspiration.

My hiking outfit...maybe the purse wasn't really necessary?

Good morning everybody! Well Jose and Daniele are back in France safe and sound and today is Daniele's birthday! We hope she is having a great day in Paris with Delphine celebrating!
Last Saturday before our BBQ on the beach we went for a small walk up the mountain that surronds the beach. It was breathtaking. And HOT! But the cool wind off the sea kept us going. We tried to get around the rock at the top but ended up running into a nude beach! We got scared and quickly came back, walked back down and started our BBQ instead!

A Klein kinda day at the beach

Good Morning Everybody!

Well Jose and Daniele are on their way back home after 6 days here with us. The volcanic cloud is still causing problems at the airport so they might be back if their flight is cancelled...we'll see.

I wanted to share with you some pictures from our day at the beach last Saturday. It was a beautiful sunny hot day and we took the car to Ghan Tuffieha bay on the other side of the island. We went for a small hike up the mountain that surrounds the bay and then came down and parked ourselves for BBQ and swimming. The water was still a little too cold for Daniele and I put the boys loved it! They took out a snorkle mask and saw a lot of sand! :)
Later we played a few rounds of Double Series! (we are addicted! Thanks Mom and Dad!) and then fired up the BBQ. We ate chicken and beef kebabs and watched the sun go down. Dreamy!

Done and Done!

Good Morning Everybody!

Well it's officially over! I took my TEFL exam yesterday at 3pm and 2 and a half hours later I passed it back in completed to the best of my ability. Truth be told I guessed at probably half of it and knew the rest. So I am hoping for a pass....we'll see! I haven't taken an exam for over 10 years and my self esteem was pretty low. I didn't even trust myself to answer correctly the questions I knew for sure! HA! After I was finished I went back and re-read and thought twice or trice about changing everything so I just passed it in and got the hell out of there.

After the exam Sabine and I went for pizza with Vince and his parents at Piccolo Padre to celebrate. It was such a nice evening stroll down the promednade with a stop for melone galato on the way home! Kick Ass!

Last of the fish frys for this week I promise......

Oh do I? ;) Mahahahahaha! Just joshin'!

So this is our Rock fish. In the Malta they are red and ugly. I have seen them everywhere and wanted to give them a try. The fish monger at the market said they were the best buy that day so....I don't know. He had more bones and wasn't as tasty as the sea bass. Big surprise? Not really I guess. I will stick to the sea bass from now on. The muscles were awesome though! I will def. buy those again!
So what are you guys BBQing these days?

Octopus Fish Fry #3

Good Morning everybody! Okay wozers I am really obsessed with fish on the BBQ this week....I tihnk I have a set of photos for every day!
So I think you remember from this post that our first trip to the Marsaxlokk fish market included seeing that fisherman's wife seeling live octopus? And our reaction to it the first time? Yeah well we have turned a corner in a big way. After eating so much great octopus carpaccio and stew and the like we decided it was high time we cooked up our own. After presuring the stalls we decided on the baby octopuses. The lady tried to give us a bag of twenty (I think they were all laughing at us!) :) Anyways we got her down to just four and were on our way. Back home Vince was so hungry he started cleaning them himself. He had to peel their skin and cut off their eyes....Thankfully the brains were taken out for us by the kind fisherman's wife!
After a few moments on the grill we devoured them and agreed that the head was the most tasty. Weird eh? I mean the legs were too, especially when the ends got a little crusty on the BBQ.
Pure Octopus Prefection!

Mediterranean fish fry # 2

Good Morning everybody! As a continuation of yesterday I wanted to show you our very first grilled mediterranean sea bass. It was deliscious. I have never bought a whole fish before and to tell you the truth I was a little scared of him in my fridge. He looked a little like a snake in the bag and I had to cover his eyes so he wasn't looking at me. But I wanted to be brave and cook the way the Maltese do so I stuffed him with lemons, garlic and thyme and threw him whole on the grill.
We were not dissapointed. They say that sea bass taste like white salmon and I know what they mean. The meat is fluffy and creamy and very tasty. It was so easy to de-bone too. Oh and I bought these jumbo prawns too and they were so sweet and needed no extras. This fish is just so good here dammit. Get over here soon so we can share!

Mediterranean Fish Fry #1

Goodmorning guys! I have had a serious fish and cooking obsession going on for the last week and a half. It all started with Vince's genius idea to try and make our own grilled kalamari. We have be on a BBQ marathon and haven't used our stove top or oven for 3 weeks straight. Can you believe it!?
Anyways we are forever ordering grilled kalamari or octopus in restaurants here in Malta and last thursday when we were out to dinner at I Monelli Vince ordered the grilled kalamari once again and we thought 'We can do this' hmmmmmmmmm.
Next day at the grocery store we bought two at the fish counter and watched him clean them and cut the eyes off (thanks goodness) and brought them home, squeezed lemon on them and threw them on the grill.
Wozers it was good! And now we are adicted. Our next Mediterranean fish fry is coming up....

Good Friday, Great Hat!

Good Morning Everybody! We've been busy all week with school and work and I haven't had time to share our good friday pics with you. Here they are only a week late!
Vince had the day off so we packed up a few beers and our new beach chairs and went to the rocky beach at the end of the road. We read and talked and enjoyed the sunshine. Honestly I just wanted to go so I could wear my new hat! HA! Do you love it?
What are your weekend plans?

Easter Sunday

Good Morning Everybody! How was your Easter? Was it as sunny in Canada and France as it was here in Malta? What did you guys do?
Vince and I woke up to parade sounds from our window so we got up and went to investigate. There was a band marching down the street and a group of preists? trailing them while rolling a statue of Jesus on a board. They eventually stopped in the main square and took a break for a sandwich at the Labour Party's headquaters.
After the parade Vince and I walked down to the local beach and laid out for an hour or so just reading and sleeping the afternoon away. There were kids and adults swiming but the majority were just sunbathing. I think the water is still just a little to cool for a dip. Hopefully it warms up before May 7th!
